Harold W. Wolfer, 84, died at 8:50 am on Wednesday, January 23, 2008. He was born on July 8, 1923 in Macon County, Illinois. The son of C. Louis and Ethel (Bowman) Wolfer, he married L. Marilyn Ritter on February 14, 1947 in Blue Mound, Illinois. They would have celebrated their 61st anniversary on Valentines Day, February 14, 2008. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes in Decatur. Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm Friday, January 25th at the funeral home. Reverend Charles Banning will officiate, assisted by Donna Hord. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. His wife Marilyn preceded him in death by only 16 hours. She died at 4:50 pm Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Mr. Wolfer is survived by children Joyce Bishop (Tom Bottom) of Charleston, Karen Brown (Phil) of Macon, and Mark Wolfer and special friend Cindy Deadrick of Decatur; grandchildren Teresa Marburger (Alan), Nicholas Brown (Amber), Alex and Seth Brown, Aaron and Drew Wolfer; great-grandchildren Zackary, Austin, and Allison Marburger, and Kaleb and Page Brown; and brother-in-law John Butterfield and sister-in-law Arlone Ritter Dalluge. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Winifred Butterfield.Mr. Wolfer was a lifelong farmer and a member of the Macon County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed restoring antique John Deere tractors and was a member of the East Central Illinois Two-Cylinder Club.
