CUSTOM DEATH NOTICEHarold Pruitt , 86, of Decatur, IL., passed away on Friday (12-12-2008) at 11:35 P.M.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday (12-16-2008) at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home Decatur, IL. Visitation will be on Monday (12-15-2008) from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be held at Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Military Rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.Memorials may be made to: Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.Harold was born on January 18, 1922 in Ivesdale, IL., the son of Cleve and Myrtle Pruitt. He married Barbara Sparks on December 14, 1946.Mr. Pruitt was a member of the U.S. Army, Company C, 13th Infantry Regiment, serving in the European Theater of Operations during WWII. He was wounded in battle on several occasions and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Harold was a member of the D.A.V., and retired from Caterpillar in 1984.Harold was devoted to his family. His wife, daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandson were the light of his life. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, and in later years, an occasional trip to the gambling boat. He was a man of integrity who was respected by all. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.He is survived by his wife: Barbara; daughters: Rebecca Pruitt of Springfield, IL. and Sheryl Korthals and husband Larry of Decatur, IL.; grandson: Brandon Korthals of Decatur, IL., granddaughter: Lisa Korthals of Germantown Hills, IL.; great-grandson: Crawford Korthals; sisters: Mary Yakey, Grace Spiker, and Charlotte Taylor; sister-in-law: Arlene Waller, and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Arthur, Herman, Glenn, Howard, and Ray, and sisters: Hilda, Hazel, and Alice.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com "
