Age 62. Passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2010. Born September 13, 1947 in Decatur, IL.Survived by his wife, Beverly; stepdaughters, Deborah (Rob) Miller and Jennifer Hayes; grandchildren, Max, Marguerite, Emma and Noah; brothers, Ron Grossman of Sullivan, IL, Jerry (Patricia) Grossman of Jonesburg, MO, Butch Grossman of Decatur, Robert Grossman of Champaign, and Steve (Dee) Grossman of Houston, TX; sisters, Joyce (Darrell) Church of Stonington, Janice (Wesley) Blackwell of Mechanicsburg, Carol Etchison, Sharon (Richard) Goers, Karen Hagaman, and Jane (Roger) Downs all of Decatur; sister-in-law, Delores Grossman of Decatur; and a host of nieces and nephews.Harold was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Larry, Gary and Dennis; and sister, Gloria Basil.Harold began his 35 year career with Shell Pipeline in Harristown, IL. He traveled worldwide and was highly regarded for his knowledge and expertise in the petroleum industry. However, he was still a farmer at heart and never forgot his roots. He maintained his sense of humor and love of family until the very end. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Harold was a member of the Illiopolis Christian Church and was a Mason belonging to Mt. Auburn Kedron Masonic Lodge #340 AF & AM and a member of Ansar Shrine Temple, Springfield, IL. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in Vietnam."Do not stand by my grave and weep I am not here. I am with the wind and the earth and the sea, I am back with nature; I am all around you." Funeral Services for Harold R. Grossman will be Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Brintlinger Funeral and Earl Home in Decatur. Interment Long Point Cemetery, Niantic, IL with full military rites conducted by Macon County Honor Guard. Visitation at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home on Friday with masonic services at 2:45 PM followed by a visitation from 3-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Illiopolis Christian Church, Illiopolis, IL or the Multiple Myeloma Foundation. "
