Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 29, 2010 at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Harristown Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.Memorials: American Cancer Society or Arthritis Foundation.Harold was born on April 11, 1919 in Harristown, IL, the son of Henry O. and Edith (Birks) Bruce. He married Norma Hess in 1946 and she preceded him in death in 1982. On May 18, 1984 in Lincoln, IL he was wed to Dorothy L. Hanslow. He was a member of the Niantic Christian Church. He was a lifetime member of the Elks 401.Harold was a veteran of the US Navy, as a First Class Officer, serving during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 105 of Decatur. He later was the owner of Bruce Implement Company of Niantic for 42 years. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking.Harold is survived by his wife Dorothy; son Gregory Bruce and wife Lyla of Dallas, Oregon; daughter Jane Minich of Las Vegas, NV; grandsons Kyle Bruce, Chad Minich, Scott Minich and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Duncan; great grandchildren, Chad Minich, Jr., Raley Minich; step sons Roger Hanslow and wife Tina of Noblesville, IN, Darrell Hanslow of Surprise, AZ; 10 step grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brian Hanslow and wife Tiffany and their children Ryne and Chloe; Brent Hanslow and wife Angie and their children Ashley and Kylie; Kyle and Sara Hanslow.He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Norma; two brothers Donald and Russell and one sister, Ethel and infant Elizabeth.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com "
