Halden R. Christie, 90, of Decatur passed away February 17, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his family.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 20 in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM Monday, February 19 at the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Halden’s honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or American Heart Association.Halden was born May 11, 1927 in Walker, IL the son of Harry Raymond and Ruth Marie (Kinney) Christie. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Halden married Sheila Black on May 5, 1968 in Mt. Zion.He was a sheet metal worker for local 218, retiring after over 20 years. He was also an over-the-road truck driver; worked for Decatur Public Schools and Decatur Wilbert Burial Vault Company. Halden enjoyed fishing and boating, especially at Wilborn Creek on Lake Shelbyville. More than anything, he cherished time spent with family and his grandchildren. Halden was a member of the American Legion.He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sheila; daughter, Shelly (Robert) Coslow of Buffalo; son, Rick Christie of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, Melissa (Kyle) Cotton of Oreana, Matthew Rodgers (fiancée Tori Deardorff) of Decatur, Rachel Coslow of Springfield, Austin Coslow (girlfriend Brenna Vargo) of Springfield, Josh Christie and Mason Christie, both of Port Charlotte, FL; great-grandchildren Riley LeAnn Cotton and soon-to-be-born Tyler Wayne Rodgers; and sisters, Evelyn Jean Matherly and Carol Ferguson, both of Decatur.Halden was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold Dean Christie.The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Caceras, Dr. Bukhari and the 6th floor nursing staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for their excellent care of Halden.
