Gwendolyn Cummings

Gwendolyn M. Cummings, 94, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Lincolnshire Place, Decatur. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, will be handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to The Economy Shop of Grace United Methodist Church. Gwen was born November 8, 1922, in Decatur, IL, daughter of O.J. “Pete” and Agnes Bertha (Costello) Hayes. She married Edwin A. Cummings in 1941. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2007. Gwen was a professional seamstress, lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church, faithful volunteer at The Economy Shop for 37 years and enthusiastic hostess of Sunday Night Dinners. Surviving are her children: William “Wings” Cummings and wife Jane of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Annette Sheehy and husband Tom of Decatur, IL, Lori Doxsie and husband Tom of Forsyth, IL; grandchildren: Amy (Shane) Seery, Suzi (Jason) Haier, Michelle (Steve) Livaditis, Christina (Erick Lee) Doxsie, and Elizabeth Doxsie; great-grandchildren: Caden and Lachlyn Seery, Keegan and Carson Haier, Tommy and Lukas Livaditis, Mack Lee, Matilda Doxsie and Miriam Doxsie; sister: Dolores; nephews: Scott, Tim, and Rick; nieces: Karen and Michelle. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 65 years Edwin, sister Nancy, and nephew Gary. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the dedicated caring staff at Lincolnshire Place Memory Care Residence and Dr. Bill Franklin. "
