Guy F. Neibuhr, 83, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, June 30, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to Warrensburg-Latham High School Athletic Department or to donor's choice. Guy was born April 14, 1931, in rural Decatur, IL, the son of Raymond and Helen (Fox) Neibuhr. He married Marjean S. Montgomery on September 23, 1951, in Decatur. Guy was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He served his country with the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict. Guy graduated from Illinois State University in 1960, where he was a Starter and Letterman on the Redbird football team, and later received his Masters Degree from Illinois State University. After graduation from Illinois State University, he was a teacher for the Warrensburg-Latham School District, where he taught Drivers Ed and Social Studies. He also started and was head coach of the Warrensburg-Latham football program. He served as head track and field coach and assistant basketball coach at Warrensburg-Latham. Guy was a former assistant football coach, head tennis coach and head track and field coach at Millikin University, where he was later inducted into the Millikin University Athletic Hall of Fame. Guy founded Guy F. Neibuhr Realtor and Builder which he operated for nearly 50 years. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, country music, and especially enjoyed following his grandsons participation in their Warrensburg-Latham athletic programs. Surviving are his wife Marge of Decatur, IL; son Doug Neibuhr and wife Jody of Decatur, IL; daughter Sherry Thomas and husband Andy of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Cori Neibuhr, Brandt Neibuhr and wife Brooke, Bryan Neibuhr, Kirk Neibuhr, Michael Thomas, and Matthew Thomas; great-grandson Austin Hudson; sisters Doris Kapper and husband Pete of Forsyth, IL and Wilma Jones of Decatur, IL. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, and son Jeff Neibuhr. "
