Gregory Mobley, 47, of Decatur, IL, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019, in his home. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Gregory was born September 25, 1972, in Chicago, IL, son of Coleman Taylor and Gretchen Grossman Mobley. Gregory was a CAD operator and surveyor for an engineering firm in Springfield, IL, and also worked as a welder at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 9 years, and then was a Tanker Truck Driver for ADM, driving all over the country for 3 years. He was involved with Alcoholics Anonymous as a Member, Leader and Mentor for many years for hundreds of people in need of guidance and support over many years. Gregory was very gifted in music and art, and enjoyed skate boarding, reading and writing. Surviving is his mother, Gretchen of Decatur, IL; brother, David Mobley of New York City, NY; niece, Cecilia Hecker and her mother Julia Hecker, both of San Francisco, CA; aunts, Judy Hughes and husband Marv of Mt. Zion, IL, and Nancy Kocher of Boston, MA; uncle, Franz Grossman and wife Leeann of Mt. Zion, IL; cousins, Michelle Koslofski and husband Kevin, Angie Mason and husband Bret, Leslie Vasich and husband Joe, Matt and Nick Grossman, Pat Kocher and wife Mandy, and Gina Tobin. Gregory was preceded in death by his father. There will be a family graveside service in DeKalb, IL, where Gregory will be buried next to his father. "
