Gloria Mae Buckner was born Gloria Mae Earley on March 3, 1949, in Springfield, Illinois, to Marva and Ronald Anderson. Gloria was raised by her grandparents Flora Ann and Harold Earley, in Quincy, Illinois. Growing up in Quincy at an early age, she enjoyed going to church, sewing, dancing, and music. Gloria was also a Girl Scout. In her early 20's, Gloria was introduced to Darrell Foster Buckner, and three weeks later, on May 20, 1973, she married Darrell and later moved to Decatur, Illinois to her raise their family. After living in Decatur for a couple of years, Gloria and her family moved to Galesburg, Illinois. Gloria received her certification as a Certified Nurse’s Aide at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, Illinois. She worked at Oak Manor for two years, and later decided to stay at home to raise her family. Gloria dedicated her life to Christ and become an active member at Community Temple Church of God in Christ. Wanting to be closer to family, Gloria and her family moved back to Decatur where she enjoyed the rest of her years. In her later years, Gloria became an active member at Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ. Gloria was preceded in death by her grandparents. On February 7, 2019, Gloria Mae Buckner went home to be with the Lord. Gloria Mae Buchner leaves to cherish her memory…her husband: Darrell, mother: Marva, two sons: Darrell Jr. and Roszelle (Shandra), one daughter: Shavonne Norlin (Christopher) sister: Susie, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
