Glenn Richard Carlson, 68, of Decatur, died Thursday, October 12, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.Liturgy Service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, October 16 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials in Glenn’s honor may be made to the American Lung Association.Glenn was born June 23, 1949, in Chicago, the son of Fred E. Carlson, Jr. and Doris E. (Kurrack) DePaul. He married Viron (Ron) Moore on July 21, 2011 in Decatur.Glenn graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Education. After that, he earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Eastern Illinois University. Glenn worked as a special education teacher for District 61 since 1975, and taught at Monticello High School, Eisenhower High School, and then Stephen Decatur High School for 15 years. He was a member of N.E.A., I.E.A., and D.E.A., as well as I.G.T.A. and GLAD. Glenn was also a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.He is survived by his husband, Ron of Decatur; siblings, Brian DePaul of Addison, IL, Tony DePaul (Lynn) of Carrolton, TX, Renee (Phil) DePaul of South Holland, IL, and Daun DePaul - Ptacek (Holly) of Schererville, IN; and several nephews and nieces.Glenn was preceded in death by his mother; step-father Samuel DePaul; and brother, Dale Carlson.The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of DMH 4100 and IMC, and Dr. Rademacher and Dr. Minnaganti for their excellent care of Glenn. "
