Visitation: 6:00 PM on August 25, 2011 Funeral: 11:00 AM on August 26, 2011 Gilbert "Gene" Giles, 63 of Fort Worth, TX passed away at 2:26pm, Saturday August 20, 2011 at Huguley Memorial Hospital, Fort Worth, TX. Visitation will be held Thursday August 25, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur IL. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday August 26, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Blue Mound, Blue Mound, IL. He will then be laid to rest at Hall Cemetery, near Blue Mound, IL. A reception will follow at the Blue Mound Civic Center. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Cancer Research Foundation, Dept. 366, P.O. Box 50226, Henderson, NV 89016-0226. Gene was raised in Blue Mound IL where he graduated from High School. He then married his high school sweetheart, Marsha, on September 17, 1967 in Blue Mound, IL. Gene graduated from Illinois State University with a B.S. in Occupational Safety and Industrial Technology. He has traveled extensively since then, while serving in the military and, as an environmental health and safety professional. Gene was widely known, and well respected for his passion, knowledge and contribution to his profession. Gene was proud to be a member of the fraternity of Free Masons. Gene is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Marsha Giles; four children, Shannan (Edward) Levine of Savannah, GA, Tammy (Omer) Samiri of Simi Valley, CA, Chris (Marcie) Giles of Long Beach, CA and Todd (Jessica) Giles of Summerville, SC; eight grandchildren, Joel, Cameron and Elyse Blevins, Devin Levine, William and Rachel Samiri, Noah Winquest and Conner Giles; mother, Wanda Brown; sister Diane (John) Green; and brother Chad (Kim) Nicholls. He was preceded in death by his father Harold Giles and granddaughter Charlotte Grace Samiri. "
