Park, Pastor Jerry, 64, of Decatur, IL., was called home at 10:48 P.M. on Saturday (08-13-2011) at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday (08-17-2011) at New Beginnings Church of God. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers a fund is established at Staley's Credit Union for the family. Jerry was born on June 29, 1947 in Decatur, IL, the son of Virgil Park and Patricia Angelina Vaughan. He married Sharon Mings on January 31, 1969. Pastor Jerry's greatest desire was to help people come to have personal relationship with Jesus and guide his brothers and sisters in Christ to grow in God. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, and grandpa. He spent countless hours making lasting memories and leaving a legacy of love and faith to his family. He was employed at New Beginnings Church of God as the Spiritual Guidance Pastor. His wise, spiritual guidance touched many lives. He loved to volunteer every Saturday at Hands of Jesus, a ministry to the Old King's Orchard area. He also had a deep bond with the Navajo Mission in N.M. which he has volunteered the last 20 years. Pastor Jerry will be remembered for his wisdom, optimistic spirit, love for his family and church, and most of all his deep devotion to God. He left to cherish his memories, wife of 42 years, Sharon Park, daughter and son-in-law, Tressa and Theodore James, son, Nathan Park, mother, Patricia Brown, grandchildren, Ian James, Valentina James, Nathan Park, Jr., Colby James, Monterious Freeman, and Vanessa Leslie, he left behind two great grandchildren, Landen and Jaden Esparza. He also left behind his little brother, Taylor Dorsey. also surviving is his brother Derald Park and wife Ellyn, sister-in-law Marsha Michel and husband Tom. He was preceded in death by father, Virgil Park, and brother, Lawrence Park. "
