Gerald Eugene “Jerry” Hendricks, 86, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025 at his home.
Services are under the direction of Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 5 to 8 pm at First Free Will Baptist Church, Decatur. Graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 10 am at Mt. Zion Township Cemetery, Mt. Zion, IL, with Pastor Stephen Cantrell officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the Macon County Honor Guard. Jerry was born on October 4, 1938 in Owatonna, MN, the son of the late Malcom and Oleta (Hawkins) Hendricks. He and his wife Karen were married on June 9, 2017 in Maggie Valley, NC.
Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was the owner/operator of Mister Donut Shops and was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Decatur.
He is survived by his wife Karen Hendricks of Decatur; daughter Laura (Chad) Livingston of Palmetto, FL; son Ira (Jen) Hendricks of Cool, CA; step-daughter Sherri (David) Colvard of Loudon, TN; step-son Joshua (Jamie) Henry of Spain; 6 grandchildren, Sarah, Sky, Salem, Britney, Caleb, and Madison; a great-granddaughter Liliana Harper (expected in September); and a brother John Hendricks; and his special furry friend Spunky.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Tori Henry, and a sister Patty.
