Visitation: 5:00 PM on August 16, 2011 Funeral: 1:00 PM on August 17, 2011 Gerald Lyle Burgess, 55, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 16 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery, Decatur, at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Gerald was born May 17, 1956, in Decatur, IL, the son of Lyle W. and Alberta A.(Randall) Thompson. Gerald worked at A.D.M. as a security guard for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his daughter Wendi Lee Burgess and partner David Tatro; son Charles T. Joseph and wife Melissa, all of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Jacob Lyle Burgess, Savannah Bleu Tatro, BriAwna Joseph, Nevaeh Joseph, and Zachary David Tatro. Also surviving are his brother Dale L. Burgess of Lincoln, IL, sister Gail S. Jones and husband Bob of Bucyrus, MO, and brother Larry W. Burgess and wife Tina of Divernon, IL. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and his brother David L. Burgess. "
