Gerald Bailey

Gerald W. Bailey, 81, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 8:40 am Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Lincolnshire Place, Decatur.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, April 1, at Northwest Christian Church, with visitation following services until 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwest Christian Church or to Staley Striders Running Club. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is assisting the family with the arrangements.Gerald was born October 22, 1936, in Decatur, IL, the son of Arlie Anderson and Margaret (Goodrich) Bailey. Gerald was a member of Northwest Christian Church and the American Legion Post 105. He retired from Caterpillar after 38 years of service. Gerald enjoyed running, running marathons, biking, boating, and turkey and deer hunting.Surviving are his sons: Todd W. Bailey and wife Kathy of Oakley, IL and Dr. Timothy S. Bailey and wife Shelly of Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Hunter Damarin and husband Dillon of Decatur, Jensen Bailey of Oakley, Megan, Anna, Bridget and Jacob Bailey, all of Decatur; brother: Wallace Bailey of Hillsboro, IL; sister: Marilyn Beaty and husband Lawrence of Morrisonville, IL.Gerald was preceded in death by his parents.
