Georgia Susan (Putnam) Kelm November 18, 1941-November 9. 2023
Georgia passed away peacefully at home from complications related to heart failure. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Georgia was born in Champaign, IL to Clyde Sr. and Ella Putnam.
She was fun loving and known to many as quite a character and never met a stranger. Georgia will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Her career as a nurse and inclination for moving back and forth from Illinois to Florida rendered job experiences in home health, nursing homes, and finally retiring from Decatur Memorial Hospital in the Orthopedic Dept.
She married Dale Kelm in 1964 and he preceded her in death as well as her parents and beloved brother Clyde Putnam, Jr.
She is survived by her children: daughters Lisa Kelm (Jackson, TN), Shele (Ed) Gonzalez (Lantana, FL) and sons Gregory (Janice) Kelm (Boynton Beach, FL), Schae (Jill) Kelm (Forsyth, IL). Granddaughters: Tara Boyd, Addison Kelm, Avery Kelm, and Aubrey Kelm. Also, sister in-law Nancy Putnam and many nieces and nephews.
We can’t forget she was also known as Ma Kelm to so many of her children’s friends.
A visitation and memorial service will be held Saturday November 18, 2023, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral home, Decatur, followed by burial in Champaign.
Since this date is her birthday, the family will be having a Celebration of Life gathering at the KC Hall in Decatur beginning at 4:00 PM. Please join us in her honor as we all know she loved a party.
Georgia also loved animals so in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County.
