Georgene Sara Price, 90, of Decatur, went to the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 31, 2017.Georgene was born on March 21, 1926 in Zion, IL the daughter of George O. and Sara E. (McCormick) McDowell. She spent the majority of her working career at Caterpillar,retiring in 1980 from the engineering department. After retiring from CAT, Georgene and her husband spent 25 winters “down in the valley” near Alamo, Texas. Georgene met the love of her life in high school when Keith came with a group from Macomb, IL to attend a missionary conference in her home town. She married Keith Eldon Leon Price on September 7, 1946 in Zion, IL. The love and devotion Keith and Georgene showed each other during their 70 years of marriage was a great example for their family, and for all those privileged to know them. She was an active member of Riverside Baptist Church for over 50 years; she enjoyed singing in the choir, helping out in AWANA and the Ladies Missionary group. Georgene was blessed with many talents and was always busy working on multiple projects – knitting, crochet, needlepoint, seamstress, quilting, gardening, to name a few. She gave away most of her creations so they could be enjoyed by others. She was a loving sister, wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma.Surviving are her sister, Marian (Al) McElroy, brother-in-law, Clint McElroy all of Zion, IL, sister-in-law, Faye McDowell of Sun City West, AZ; daughter,Connie (Bob) Langlois of Vancouver, WA; daughter, Suzi (Mark) Mehlig of O’Fallon, MO; daughter, Debby (Ivan) Witts of Decatur; IL, grandchildren, Craig (Stacy) Witts, Jeremy (Jennifer) Witts, Tina (James) McWhorter, Sarah (Hai) Phan, Alicia Mehlig, Michael Langlois; great-grandchildren, Shannon, Olivia, Kaitlyn, McKinsey, Lincoln, Laura, Kole, several nephews, nieces, and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Keith (Dec 7, 2016), sister, Martha McElroy, brother, Bill McDowell, and great-grandson, Colin. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hickory Point Christian Village skilled care staff, Primrose Retirement Community staff, Comfort Keepers staff, and Chaplain Dan for their extra loving care.Funeral service to celebrate Georgene’s life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017, in Riverside Baptist Church, 1250 W. Mound Road, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 in Riverside Baptist Church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Suggested memorials to Riverside Baptist Church or Alzheimer’s Association, website www.alz.org. "
