Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, IL, with military rites conducted by the Inter Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association Greater Illinois Chapter 2921 Greenbriar Dr., Suite C, Springfield, IL, 62704. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home are assisting the family with the arrangements.George was born April 16, 1924, in Decatur, IL, the son of George Newton and Clara (Heiser) Williams. He married Helen Peer on July 24, 1947 in Decatur, IL. George was a member of Woodland Chapel Presbyterian Church. He worked at A.E. Staleys as a machinist for 41 years, retiring in 1983. George served in the U.S. Army in the India-Burma Theatre during WWII. He was a member of the Elks, Moose, Golden K, and the American Legion.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen of Decatur; children Dennis Williams and wife Phyllis of Roseburg, OR, Bonnie Howard and husband Mark of Mesa, AZ, Gayle Hausmann and husband Bill of Opelousas, LA, George Williams III and wife Jean of Danville, IL, Lou Ann Henebry of Springfield, IL; 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, son Scott, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
