Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday (08-03-2009) at Summit Avenue Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to service time at the church.Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Military rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.. George was born on October 13, 1921 in Jiseville, IL., the son of George Abner Tennison and Violet Gertrude (Johnson) Tennison. He married Vivian Lang on October 5, 1946 in Decatur, IL. and moved to Pana, IL. on a farm. They later moved back to Decatur and there he became a builder of homes and a land developer. He finally retired as a livestock and grain farmer, and enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors.George attended Summit Avenue Baptist Church. He was a member of Shelby and Macon County Farm Bureau. He had worked at Mueller and Staley Manufacturing Co. and later served in the U.S. Navy aboard the ship, the U.S.S. Alcor in WWII. Surviving are his wife Vivian of Decatur, IL. and brother Charles Inman and wife Earline of Decatur and nephew William Inman of Normal, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Roy Tennison.
