George W. Moore, 84, of Niantic, IL, passed away at 2:15 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014, at Fair Havens Christian Home. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 10, at Resurrection Parish, Illiopolis, with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Illiopolis, IL. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes, Decatur, are assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to: Resurrection Parish, Illiopolis. George was born February 22, 1929, in Niantic, IL, the son of Hugh J. And Sophie (Woodall) Moore. He married Jeanette M. Nold on November 11, 1961. George graduated from Niantic Community High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army in 1951 during the Korean War with the 45th Ordinance Light Aircraft Maintenance. He later farmed in rural Niantic. George was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Niantic and Resurrection Parish in Illiopolis. He was a former member and director of the Macon County Farm Bureau, and was director of Niantic Township from 1976-1982. George was a member of the former Niantic Civic Club, a volunteer member of the Niantic Fire Department for 30 years where he also served as Trustee. He served on Richland Educational advisory committee on Higher Education 2003-2004. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Jeanette of Niantic, IL; son Robert J. Moore of Niantic, IL; sister Lillian "Jean" Moore of Decatur, IL. George was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Agnes Moore Selle, Mary L. Moore Bollero, Earl Moore, John Moore, Joseph Moore and Merle Moore. The family wishes to thank Safe Haven Hospice, Lincoln, IL, and the staff of Fair Havens Christian Home for the loving care given to George. "
