George A. Koning, 75, of Decatur, IL, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013, in his home. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 16, at St. James Catholic Church. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Friday, November 15, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 3:30 P.M. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church or St. Mary's Cancer Care. George was born January 3, 1938, in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Ilo Ray and Velda Louise (Fetterhoff) Koning. George married Marion P. Stewart September 9, 1960, in Roswell, New Mexico. He retired from Purity Baking Company, was a member of St. James Catholic Church, IBEW Local Union 51, and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He is survived by his children: Lisa Koning of Decatur, IL, Thane Koning (Nancy) of Oklahoma, Brian Koning (Missy) of Lincoln, IL, Angie Seldat (Tony) of Decatur, IL, Jill Koning of Decatur, IL, and Dara Gray (Dennis, Sr.) of Mt. Zion, IL; brothers and sisters: Christine Sund, Bob Koning, Lois Verstrat, Jerry Koning, Jack Koning, Dave Koning, Janice Valdez, and Sharon Swan; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ray Koning and Keith Koning, sister Irene, and father and mother-in-law, Mack and Marion McConnell. "
