Gene Wells

Gene R. Wells, 76, of Decatur, IL, died 12:15 P.M., Thursday, June 28, 2012, at his residence. A private burial will be held. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association. Gene was born March 22, 1936 in Barry, IL, the son of Forest and Lena Mae (McBride) Wells. Gene married Mary Monroe in 1957. He later married Mary Cross and she preceded him in death. Gene was a truck driver for Yellow Transit for 15 years and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea. He is survived by his daughter Lori Wells of Decatur, IL; son Charlie (Peggy) Crosby of Atlanta, GA and their children Ashley, Megan, and Jeffrey (Miri) Crosby; brother Archie Lee Wells of Georgia; sister Dorthea Bodine of Decatur, IL; several nephews; and good friend Dennis Heil of Decatur, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, second wife Mary Wells, son Gene Roy Wells, Jr., and brother F.A. Wells. "
