Gaylon "Whitey" Harrell, 75, of Latham, IL, died Friday, May 30, 2014, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Friends Creek Cemetery in Argenta, IL. Memorials may be made to Latham Fire Dept. Gaylon was born August 27, 1938 in Kinmundy, IL, the son of Obie Flavus and Vivian Lorene (Henson) Harrell. He married Lois J. Parks on June 21, 1959 in Decatur, IL. Gaylon worked for Caterpillar as a mechanic, retiring after many years of service, and most recently retired from the Post Office as a rural carrier. He owned a 1954 Ford Skyliner, enjoyed old cars and attending car shows, and country dancing. Gaylon loved going to local track races, stock car, and NASCAR races. He was a volunteer for the Latham Fire Dept. for 45 years. He is survived by his wife Lois of 54 years; children Randy Harrell and companion Sheryl Scott, Natalie Foster, Rodney Harrell, all of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Sean Foster of Dalton City, IL, Brad Neunaber of Jerseyville, IL; great grandson Mason Neunaber of Jerseyville, IL; brother Dennis Harrell of Henderson, KY; sister Juanita Jones of Decatur, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Paula and sister Nona. "
