Gary Allen Hart, 78, of Bloomington, IL, passed away on December 18, 2023 at Lincolnshire Place.
The family would like to welcome friends to a Memorial Service on December 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur, IL.
Gary was born in Decatur, IL on May 10, 1945 to Clarence and Audrey (Whetstone) Hart. He graduated from San Rafael High School (CA), class of 1963. Gary met the love of his life, Norma Jean Hawkins, at Niantic-Harristown High School and they have been married for 59 years.
He is survived by his loving wife; two sons: Terry (Michelle) Hart and Todd (Angie) Hart; and his 8 grandchildren: Tad, Sophia, Gracie, Keaton, Corbin, Chloe, London, and Sophie. Gary is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Mary (Bob) Underwood, Ralph (Caroline) Hart, Ernie (June) Hart, and Kay (Jack) Hinton.
Gary worked for Caterpillar for nearly 30 years. He met many great friends over his years there. Gary was a member and Deacon of multiple Baptist Churches in Decatur, including Tabernacle Baptist Church.
He loved to spend time in his garage tinkering with cars, carpentry projects, as well as watching and cheering on his beloved St. Louis Cardinals and Fighting Illini Basketball. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Bobby Hart, Linda (Dan) Cole, June (Jerry) English, Joan Jones, and James (Marty) Hart.
