With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gary E. Guidebeck, who passed away on October 27, 2026, at the age of 74.
Gary was born and raised in Clinton, Iowa. After being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, he faced his illness with unwavering courage and strength, supported by his deep love and devotion to his family.
Gary dedicated 33 years of his career to ADM, beginning in Clinton, Iowa, and later continuing in Decatur, Illinois, where he made his home and raised his family.
Gary was an excellent cook who found great joy in preparing meals for the people he loved. For him, cooking was more than putting food on the table. It was a way to bring people together, celebrate family, and create lasting memories.
He was a passionate NASCAR fan, especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr. Gary also enjoyed visiting antique stores and flea markets and simply being outdoors. Whether he was mowing the grass or sitting on the porch relaxing, he appreciated life's simple pleasures. His most precious possession was his four-legged buddy named Charlie, who rarely left his side.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Diana; his cherished children, Clint Guidebeck (Dawn), Teresa Guidebeck, Shane Guidebeck (Jennifer), and Kandra Guidebeck; and his sister, Susan Cook-Guidebeck. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Ashley and Sarah Guidebeck, Gavin Bunch, and Ava and Eli Guidebeck; as well as his niece and nephew, Amy Knudsen and Dave Guidebeck (Shannon).
He will also be deeply missed by his extended family and dear friends, who will remember his presence, humor, guidance, generosity, and love more than words can express.
Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Guidebeck; his brother, James Guidebeck; and his parents, Ronald and Berniece Guidebeck.
The true measure of Gary’s life can be found in the people who loved him and the memories they will carry forward. It is in the family gatherings, the meals he prepared, the laughter they shared, the guidance he gave, and all the ordinary moments that became special simply because he was there.
While saying goodbye is incredibly difficult, the love Gary gave his family will remain a part of them always. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered with every story, every laugh, and every memory shared.
