Galen Handley

Galen C. Handley, 53, of Cerro Gordo, passed away Friday, July 2, 2021. Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 1:00 - 2:00 PM, Tuesday at the church. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo is assisting the family. Memorials in Galen’s honor may be made to the Cerro Gordo Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, PO Box 26, Cerro Gordo, IL 61818. Galen was born January 10, 1968 in Decatur, the son of Lorn and Kathryn (Merritt) Handley. He graduated from Cerro Gordo High School in the class of 1986. Galen worked as a diesel mechanic for Whiteline Express in Champaign since 2003. He enjoyed working on muscle cars, especially Fords and was working on a Torino project car. Galen was a fan of NASCAR, especially the Roush Racing Team and was an avid Chicago White Sox fan. He is survived by his parents, Lorn and Kathy Handley; children: Maddison Handley of Merritt Island, FL and Skyler Henderson of Norridge, IL; sister, Teresa Handley Beldock of Oakley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Galen was preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother-in-law, Rick Beldock.
