Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 21, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Friday, June 20, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, IL, with military rites conducted by Macon County Honor Guard.Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Wing at Aspen Ridge Care Centre.Gus was born June 4, 1914, in Decatur, the son of Karl and Minnie (Killian) Skowronski. He married Evelyn Booker November 20, 1940, in Decatur. Mr. Skowronski worked as a mixer truck driver for Travers. He was also a member of Parkway Church of the Nazarene, and a WWII U.S. Army Veteran. Gus loved fishing, golfing and camping.Gus dedicated his life to the Lord in 1948. He was always eager to share his testimony, and he served in many church positions. Gus never met a stranger and could always brighten your day with his quick wit. He will be fondly remembered for his ushering duties and his ability to greet people and make them feel welcome at the church. Gus was a devoted family man to his wife, sons and his very special grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Gus is survived by his wife Evelyn of Decatur; son Fred Skowronski and wife Sharon of LaPlace, IL; son Donald Skowronski and wife Cheri of Long Creek, IL; grandchildren Dennis, Rodney, Ricky, Jason, Jeremy, and Amanda; eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters, and two granddaughters.
