Frederick George Barlow, 99, of Arthur, formerly of Cerro Gordo, IL, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at The Arthur Home, Arthur, IL.Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 28, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL, with visitation 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, July 27, at the funeral home in Cerro Gordo and Masonic Rites conducted by Cerro Gordo Masonic Lodge #600 AF & AM at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL, with military rites conducted by the Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #117. Memorials may be made to The Arthur Home or to Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church.Fred was born August 14, 1918 in Providence, RI, the son of George and Anna (Lee) Barlow. Fred moved to Cerro Gordo and taught 6th grade from 1953–58 and was the junior high school principal/7th grade teacher from 1958-76, before retiring. On April 8, 1971, he married Eileen Born Helm. Fred was a member of Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church, Cerro Gordo Masonic Lodge #600 AF & AM, American Legion Post #117, and Ansar Shrine. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eileen of Arthur; step-children Darrell Helm (friend Mary) of Tuscola, IL and daughter Marilyn Goggans (husband John) of Nokomis, IL; 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; and cousin Bob Lee (wife Sandy) of Providence, RI.He was preceded in death by his parents.
