Fred Norman Wentworth, 90, of Warrensburg, IL, passed away at 1:53 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, August 5, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg. Memorials may be made to Barclay Public Library - Warrensburg or Warrensburg United Methodist Church. Fred was born September 12, 1922, the son of Clifford "CJ" and Lucy (Schroeder) Wentworth in Austin Township where he resided for his 90 years. He married Evelyn Ferrill on May 10, 1946, in Argenta, IL. Fred was a retired farmer having farmed in the Warrensburg area for 67 years. He was a member of Warrensburg United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher for 18 years. As co-chairman of the Building Committee, he helped build the present church in 1967. He was a member of the Macon County Farm Bureau, Treasurer of the Austin Township Land Commission for 40 years and a 4-H leader. Fred served in the Navy Air Corps during WWII and always maintained an interest in flying. Surviving are his wife of 67 years Evelyn of Warrensburg; sons Norman (Cookie) Wentworth of Decatur, IL, Dennis (Cathy) Wentworth of Downs, IL; daughter Sharon (John) Dew of Monmouth, IL; grandchildren Jeff Jensen, Michael Jensen, Nathan Wentworth, Laura Anderson, Stacy Wentworth, Tory Wentworth, Jacob Dew, Anthony Dew, Kristin Dew, and Geri Hipple; great-grandchildren McKenna, Owen, Josie, Sam, Alex, and Jacob; brother George Wentworth, Sr. of Decatur, IL; sister Ruth ( Mas) Kameya of Oceanside, CA; and son-in-law Paul Jensen of Maroa, IL. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Diane Jensen, sister Mildred Carpenter, and brothers John and Merle Wentworth. He was known for his warm smile and the ability to make everyone feel special. Fred always had an open door for friends and family but especially loved taking the grandchildren for vanilla ice cream anytime. "
