Fred Monska

Frederick “Fred” Robert Monska passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in Decatur, IL.

Memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 19 ^, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL. Visitation will be at 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2024 also at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Harristown Cemetery. Memorials in Fred’s honor may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Decatur Gun Club.

Fred was born May 14, 1945, in Decatur, IL, the son of Frederick Monska and Eleanor (Mueller) Maxwell. He married Barbara Reid on January 18, 1969, in Missouri.

After proudly serving our country in the U.S. Navy, Fred spent 43 years working as a machinist for Mueller Company. He greatly enjoyed hunting, shooting, fishing, swap meets, and he truly loved spending time at his farm in Missouri. Fred was a member of the Decatur Gun Club, the Windsor Gun Club, the NRA, as well as a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara; daughter Annette Collins of Decatur, son Fred Monska (Heather) of Assumption; grandchildren Trent Collins (Bailey), Hayley Monska (David McDermott), Autumn Comer (Tristen), Dylan Monska; great-grandchildren Charlee Ann Collins; daughter-in-law Rebecca Monska of Decatur; and many nieces and nephews.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, his son Robert Monska, his sister Eleanor Rhodes, and his stepfather John Maxwell.
