Freddie A. Hector, 83, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Friday, August 29, 2025 at Decatur First Church of the Nazarene, 1177 W Hickory Point Road, Decatur. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials in Fred’s honor may be made to First Church of the Nazarene- Imagine Campaign.
Fred was born September 4, 1941 in Decatur the son of Edgil, Sr. and Doris (Dickens) Hector. He married Jean Sunderland on July 14, 1963 in Decatur. Fred worked for 31 years at Firestone Tire, he also repaired RVs for K&G Trailer Mart and Fourwinds RV, and ended his career as a courier at Soy Capital Bank. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid woodworker. Fred was a member of Decatur First Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Jean; children: Richard Hector of Decatur and Linda (Jeff) Stoner of Madisonville, KY; grandchildren: Laura Hector (Kevin Taylor), Craig (Laura) Hector, Jaqualyn Hector, Amber (Nick) Harmon, Cooper Jaros, Cody (Courtney) Stoner, Danielle (Dan Fager) Stoner, and Bailey Stoner; great-grandchildren: Harper, Maya, Rhys, Paisely, Ashlynn, Elliana, Isabella, Hannah, Juliana, Lillian, Isabella, Sophie, Jonas, Albie, and Makaela; brothers: Edgil (Norma) Hector, Jr., Ted (Marla) Hector, and Peter (Karen) Hector. Extended family includes many special people: many nieces and nephews; Cheryl Watson; and two foreign exchange students from Japan who Fred and Jean hosted: Norie and Emiko.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vickie Hector; and brother, Jim Hector.
