Fred Balding

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Sharon United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 12, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.Memorials may be made to Sharon United Methodist Church, Renal Care Group Hemodialysis Clinic 1830 S. 44th St. Decatur, Illinois 62521, or to the American Legion.Fred was born on September 24, 1920, in Decatur, the son of Frank and Ada (Newberry) Balding. He married Helen L. Hill on June 15, 1947, in Bement, IL. Fred served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He worked as a sales representative for Purity Baking Company, retiring in 1974.Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Helen of Decatur; daughter Lynn Christine Klock and husband Douglas of Hilton, N.Y.; son Gary Franklin Balding and wife Kathy of Matthews, N.C.; and grandchildren Kevin Klock, Adam Klock, Brittany Balding, and Brett Balding.Fred was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Janet, one sister and two brothers.
