Frank Harold Hedenberg, Jr., 63, of Decatur, IL, lost a 10 month battle with lung cancer on Monday, October 15, 2018, in his home. Liturgy services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 18, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Wednesday, October 17, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials in Frank’s honor may be given to Macon County Conservation District. Frank was born July 16, 1955, in Decatur, son of Frank H. and Marie (Yuetten) Hedenberg. He married Shelley Higgins in Decatur on September 17, 1977. Frank was a member of Sts. James and Patrick Parrish, and served his country in the U.S. Army. Frank worked at Krekel’s, was a Macon County correctional officer for 10 years, worked in home health care at Help at Home, and was self employed in construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. Frank was an avid Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Shelley of Decatur; daughter Stefanie of Decatur; grandchildren Kaleb and Kayden; brother Tom (Teresa) Hedenberg of Danville; sister-in-law Patti Hedenberg of Decatur; nieces and nephews Bryan, Ben, Bridget, John, Freddy, and Pete. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul, Uncle Henry and Aunt Georgia Yuetten.
