Visitation will be 5 to 8 P.M., Friday, December 3, 2010 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL.Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 4, at Parkview Cemetery Chapel of Peace in Parkview Cemetery, Peoria, IL with visitation one hour prior to service time in the chapel, followed by burial in Parkview Cemetery.Memorials may be made to D.M.H. Cardiac Cath Lab. Frankie Chew, Jr. was born July 7, 1932, in Hazen, Arkansas, the son of Frank Gordon and Jewel Mae (Owen) Chew. He married Shirley Steimel December 24, 1952, in Peoria. Mr. Chew was employed by Caterpillar for 47 years as a project engineer. He had worked in the Peoria, Mapleton, and Decatur plants. Mr. Chew was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He served in the Signal Corp/US Army Engineers. Mr. Chew was a member of Masonic Lodge #263 Peoria, a 32nd degree member with Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Valley of Peoria, Scottish Rite. He was also a member of Peoria First Federated Church, Caterpillar Retirees Club, and American Legion Post 105. Mr. Chew enjoyed woodcarving, duck and deer hunting, and fishing. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Decatur; daughters Deborah L. (Paul) Diamond of Hawthorne Woods, IL; Linda A. Schutte of Decatur, IL; Carolyn (Jeff) Glosser of Decatur; grandson Jack Diamond of Hawthorne Woods, IL; granddaughter Claire Glosser of Decatur; sister Judy (Larry) Webster of East Peoria, IL; aunt Jean (Clayton) Shook of Eureka Springs, AR; niece Sarah Webster, niece Amy (Jason) Potter; niece Tracey (Martin) DeCrane of Polo, IL, niece Regina (Rick) Simmons of Marion, IN; nephews Bob (Sandy) Steimel of Chatham, IL, and Curt Steimel of Springfield, IL.Mr. Chew was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty and brother-in-law Chuck Wright, brother-in-law Bob G. Steimel, sister-in-law Esther Steimel, son-in-law Tommy Schutte.The family would like to give a special thank you to the kind and compassionate staff at Fair Havens Christian Home and special friends Bud and Elaine Cripe.Dad, Happy Hunting.
