Frances Elizabeth Hickey, 96, of Decatur, formerly of Springfield, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law after a long illness. Her husband, Francis G. Hickey, preceded her in death on May 9, 2006. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 10 at St. Cabrini Catholic Church, Springfield, with visitation one hour prior to services, with Msgr. John Ossola celebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Springfield. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur is assisting the Hickey family with arrangements.Frances was born July 6, 1919 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Carius Russell and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Davis. She married Francis G. Hickey on June 21, 1946. Frances graduated from business college and was a legal secretary in Springfield prior to her marriage; after years as a homemaker, she was a secretary at the Macon County Treasurer’s Office. Frances was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Decatur.Frances is survived by her daughter Colleen Medley and husband Jack of Dalton City, daughter Janice Meyer and husband Fred of Charlestown, IN, and son Michael Hickey and wife Beverly of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren: Kate (Greg) Caufield of New Albany, IN, Fred Meyer of Huntington, IN, and Caitlyn (Adam) Boyd of Portland, OR; four great-grandchildren: Emily and Benjamin Caufield and Ethan and Kayla Meyer; and many nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her husband Franny, her parents, and two sisters: Gertrude (Michael) Fanale and Bette (Kenlon) Keys. Frances cherished her family and friends, and we cherish our memories of her.Memorials: Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Illinois. "
