Floyd “Sonny” “Cheeseburger” Hendrickson, 79, of Decatur, passed away peacefully surrounded with family and friends on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, 2827 N. Oakland Ave., Decatur, IL.
Sonny was born on October 12, 1946, in Decatur, IL, the son of Floyd Hendrickson, Sr. and Emma (McCoy) Hendrickson. He married Mary A. Beiler on June 8, 1980, and she preceded him in death.
He worked as a union laborer for Laborer’s Local 159. He enjoyed racing cars, loved Corvettes, was known for telling stories, and never knew a stranger. He worked hard and he played hard.
Sonny is survived by his 3 children, Tammy (companion Jeff) Chandler, Keith Hendrickson, and Sonny Hendrickson, all of Decatur; 3 grandchildren, Cale, Cortney, and Courtney; 5 great-grandchildren, Karlee, Maison, Cale Jr., Deaken, and Cameron and lifelong friend Pat Tucker.
He is preceded by his parents, his wife, 2 sisters, and a brother.
