Florence L. (Piercefield) Berry, 96, of Decatur, IL, died 3:15 P.M., Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with Pastor Michael Damery officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mt. Zion, IL. Memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Florence was born March 18, 1916, in Newton, IL, the daughter of Joseph A. and Tillie (Beasley) Piercefield. She married W. Sherman Berry on March 6, 1936 in Newton, IL. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1996. Florence was a former member of Summit Avenue Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. She was a beautician in Mt. Zion for many years and they grew and sold strawberries along Spitler Woods Road. Florence was a former member of Women of the Moose Lodge #36 in Decatur, IL and in Florida. She was also an artist in Chassahowitza, Florida. She is survived by her daughters Sue (Steve) Perryman of Mt. Zion, IL, Peggy (Richard) Marley of Decatur IL; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson; brother Carl Meeks and wife Connie of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Sherman D., two brothers and three sisters. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL will be handling the arrangements.
