November 21, 1921 — May 10, 2012

Faye Evelyn (Alsup) Spencer, 90, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, at Peoples Church of God. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 13, with an Eastern Star service at 5:45 p.m. at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials may be made to Peoples Church of God. Mrs. Spencer was born November 21, 1921, near Latham, IL, the daughter of Loren and Allie Elizabeth (Rayburn) Alsup. She married Orville F. Spencer on February 3, 1940. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2005. Mrs. Spencer was a member of Peoples Church of God for over 70 years, a member of Golden Girls Chapter of American Business Womens Association, Kiwanianne Club of Decatur, 60+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving 35 years as Grand Lecturer, 3 years as Grand Representative of Nevada, 2 years as Grand Representative of New Mexico. She served as Worthy Matron of Guiding Light Chapter (Now Illini Chapter), Past Royal Matron of Leighton Court, Order of the Amaranth, served as Grand Marshal and Grand Prelate of the Order of the Amaranth of the State of Illinois, and was a member of Decatur Womens Ministries at the Salvation Army. Mrs. Spencer worked several years at Fairies Mfg. Co., during WWII. She also worked at Wagner's Mfg. Co., Carson Pirie Scott and retired from the Herald & Review. Surviving are her son Dennis R. Spencer and wife Marie of Decatur; two grandsons, Troy S. Spencer and wife Chris of Decatur and Shad A. Spencer of Alabama; five great-grandchildren Shawna and Crystal Spencer, Natasha Spencer all of Decatur, Joshua Mulvaney and John Farr of Mt. Zion; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters and four brothers. "
