Faye Hayes

Faye Ann Hayes, 64, of Decatur passed away on January 13, 2024.

A celebration of Faye’s life will be held at a later date.

Faye was born February 28, 1959 in Normal, IL, the daughter of Hugh and Charlotte (Jack) Phipps. She married Douglas Hayes on August 18, 1977, and he preceded her in death on March 20, 2023. Along with her husband and son, she owned Sun Prairie Custom Lawn Care. Her interests included crafts, pottery, and flowers. Her family often joked that “she consistently mowed when it didn’t need it.” She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and friend.

She is survived by her son, Zach Hayes, and friend Bill Bilbrey, who was like a second son. Both are of Decatur. She is also survived by her loving dogs, Leo and Heidi.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Douglas Hayes.
