F. Stanley Taylor, 98, formerly of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully in his sleep, February 10, 2018, in Katy, Texas. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Stan’s life at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Westminster Presbyterian Church (1360 W. Main St, Decatur, IL 62522). Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery with military rites by Macon County Honor Guard. We invite everyone to attend a Memorial luncheon at the Decatur Club from 1:30-3:30pm. As World War II broke out Stan entered the Army landing ashore in Normandy, enduring the Battle of the Bulge, and attending not only to the soldiers, but also to the victims of the Holocaust in the liberated concentration camps. Upon returning home from the war, Stan, his father Guy, and brother Ted, launched Taylor Pharmacal Company in 1948. Stan eventually became President of Taylor Pharmacal and went on to build the corporate headquarters and warehouse at the corner of Wyckles Road and Main Street. They worked very hard, raising money from family, friends, and investors, eventually building one of the most well-known and respected contract manufacturing pharmaceutical companies in the nation. Their building still exists today just north of MacArthur High School, now known as Akorn Manufacturing, as in 1992 the Taylor family sold Taylor Pharmacal Company to Akorn, Inc.In 1954, Stan married Bernice Wagner Taylor. Stan and Bernice were devoted to each other, you just could not imagine one without the other. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Bernice Wagner Taylor, son Richard Stanley Taylor, and brother Ted Taylor. He is survived by three grandchildren), Natalie McGrew (grandson-in-law Cody McGrew), Anna Taylor, Laura Taylor, and daughter in law, Christine Hughes Taylor. "
