Ezra Beyda

Ezra J. Beyda, M.D. 88, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016, in his home. A graduate of the University of Paris School of Medicine in 1953, he moved to the United States to pursue a career in Internal Medicine: Cardiology. While serving a residency at Jewish Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio, he met his future wife, Lorrie, and they married in 1958. Ezra received a Fellowship and trained under Dr. Samuel Beloit at Philadelphia General Hospital in the field of Cardiology. In 1960, he moved with his wife and daughter, Susan to Decatur, Illinois, and began a partnership with Dr. Erich Stern. Ezra was a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Internal Medicine, the American Medical Association, the Illinois State Medical Society, the Macon County Medical Society, the American Heart Association, and the Council of Clinical Cardiology. Along the way, he served as President of the medical staff at both St. Mary’s Hospital and Decatur Memorial Hospital as well as President of the Macon County Medical Society. In 1975 he was awarded a Fellowship in the American College of Cardiology. In 1976, he founded Internal Medicine Associates of Decatur. The first to join him was Dr. Stephen Goetter followed by Dr. David Baumberger, Dr. William Franklin and Dr. Keith Smith. He retired in 1999 and enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends. Ezra will join his son David, who passed away in 2006, in Boulder, Colorado. He had a good life - he enjoyed the practice of medicine, his family and friends. To all who loved him, please know that he is at peace. "
