Evelyn Sowers, 83, of Decatur, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation two hours prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to McKinley Court Activities or Temple Baptist Church.Evelyn was born July 9, 1933 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Wilbur and Hattie (Hill) Groves. She married Marvin Thural Sowers on May 10, 1952 in Decatur, IL.Evelyn was a member of Temple Baptist Church.She is survived by her children Marvin Lynn Sowers and wife Mona, Sheryl Polley and husband Stan, all of Decatur, IL; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Davis of Ramsey, IL, Rosemary Sowers and husband Wayne of Decatur, Lucy McClellan and husband Judd of Decatur.She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.Evelyn will long be remembered by her friends and family for her sense of humor, love of family, faith, and strong determination in the face of adversity. She led the way for many and served as an extraordinary role model for her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her. "
