Eunice M. Kerwood, 91, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 4:00 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur. Family requests casual attire. Memorials may be made to Lutheran School Association (L.S.A.) or donor's choice. Eunice was born October 17, 1922, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Adolph and Alice (McFetridge) Strahle. She married the love of her life Charles Donald "Don" Kerwood on October 10, 1943. He predeceased her in death on March 5, 2008. She enjoyed crocheting doilies and afghans and giving them away. She worked for Shudels Dry Cleaners as a spotter for six years and also worked as a cook for LSA for several years where she was affectionately known as "Grandma" by the children. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering in the office for 40+ years. Because of her active lifestyle she was the subject of a television commercial for Eagle Ridge Assisted Living. Eunice is survived by her son Donald F. Kerwood and his wife Nancy of Decatur, IL; daughter Alice M. Doeding and her husband Russell of Mt. Zion, IL; grandsons Christopher D. Kerwood and his wife April of Decatur, IL and Mark A. Doeding of Auburndale, FL; granddaughter Melissa J. Whittington of Decatur, IL; great-granddaughter Krista Kerwood of Decatur, IL and great-grandson Tristan Whittington of Decatur, IL; brother Earl Strahle and wife Rosine of CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Ralph Strahle and Robert Strahle, sisters Eleanor Schroat, Caroline Gaither and Adeline Bright.
