CUSTOM DEATH NOTICE Eugene F. Ploussard, 89, of Decatur, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, in Decatur Memorial Hospital.Funeral mass will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 3, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Tuesday, February 2, with a prayer service at 8:00 P.M., at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church.Mr. Ploussard was born September 9, 1920, in Murdock, IL, the son of Edwin A. and Ethel (Walters) Ploussard. He married Mary L. Fink July 18, 1953 in Springfield, IL. She preceded him in death December 4, 2005. Mr. Ploussard worked at A.E. Staley, Faries Mfg. Co, Illinois Power and Missouri Power before spending 40 years with Wabash and Norfolk Western Railroad, retiring as a locomotive engineer. He was in the Army in WWII as a Captain with several campaign medals with four bronze stars. He was also a boy scout in Troop 17 at St. Patricks and attained the rank of Life Scout. Mr. Ploussard was a member of K of C Council #577, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers #155, American Legion Post #105, VFW Post #99, U.S. Golf Association, former ranger at Nelson golf course, Nelson Park golf association, Hale Irwin Golf Group, and N&W Fellowship Bowling League.Mr. Ploussard is survived by his daughter Julie Ann Stone and husband Gary of Bloomington; son David Eugene Ploussard and wife Krista of Morton; grandchildren: Kelsey, Lacey and Jamie Stone, McKenzie, Lindsay and Elizabeth Ploussard; sister-in-law Ange Ploussard of Columbia, SC.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, sister Dorothy Mangold, and brother Marion Ploussard.Condolences may be left to the family at www.brintlingerandearl.com "
