Eugene Carter

Eugene Dale Carter, 80, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 6:34 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 13, at Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, October 12, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. IL. Memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice. Eugene was born January 2, 1934, in Danvers, IL, son of Roscoe and Iva (Gilliland) Carter. He married the love of his life, Ethel Patrick on November 12, 1954. Eugene graduated from Danvers High School in 1952 and retired from ADM. He was a member of Cerro Gordo United Methodist Church. Eugene enjoyed cheering on Danica, was an avid fisherman, enjoyed bowling, hunting and trap shooting, and was a lifetime member of the NRA. Surviving are his wife Ethel of Decatur, IL; son Brad Carter and daughter Kelly Jo Garecht and husband Bob. He was the beloved grandfather of Lucas and Jacob Garecht. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters, two grandsons, and one granddaughter. "
