Ethel Janvrin

March 27, 1924 — September 8, 2018

Ethel Marie Janvrin, 94, of Decatur passed away September 8, 2018 at Heritage Health of Mt. Zion, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 12 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Tuesday, September 11 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Memorials in Ethel’s honor may be made to Kim Riley, Heritage Health Activity Department, 1225 Woodland Dr. Mt. Zion, IL 62549 Ethel was born March 27, 1924 in Mansfield, IL, the daughter of Guy B. and Ressa (Zeiders) Brian. She married Raymond Burton Janvrin, February 14, 1944. Ethel was an accomplished seamstress, an excellent cook and a horticulturist who could make any plant or flower flourish. She also refinished many pieces of furniture. Her specialty was transforming old wood floors back to their original shine. She thrived on the hard work on the farm and often said that she loved every minute of it. She was the best mom and grandma ever and never missed an event. Most importantly, she and Burton worked as team for over 74 years to build a solid foundation built on respect and love of family. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Burton; children, Gary (Dot) Janvrin, Linda (Dennis) Janvrin-Zinn, Neal (Kay) Janvrin, and Kevin (Lindy) Janvrin, all of Decatur; grandchildren, Annette Zaske, Nicole Zinn, Natalie Gower, Dan Janvrin, Melissa Flies, Ben Janvrin, Kyle Janvrin and Ian Janvrin; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Jean Hall of Decatur. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Elsie Fite, Cora Sanders, Marilyn Jourdan, Ross Brian. The Janvrin family would like to thank Heritage Health in Mt. Zion for taking excellent care of Ethel. We always knew that she was safe and surrounded by people who truly cared. Their staff and family soon became part of our family. We are sincerely grateful for their dedication to Mom.
