Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 26, 2010 at Grace United Methodist Church, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mt. Zion, IL.Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, will be handling the arrangements.Ethel was born February 7, 1923, in University City, MO, the daughter of Walter Christian and Clara Anna (Hartwig) Dannenmaier. She married Dr. John W. Van Cleve on February 7, 1947 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2005.Ethel graduated in 1944 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harris Teachers College in St. Louis, MO. She did her graduate work at Northwestern University, La Verne College, Bradley University and Western Illinois University. Ethel was an elementary teacher in St. Louis, MO, Minneapolis, MN and Peoria, IL and was a Reading Consultant for District 150 in Peoria, IL. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, M&M Class, Chapters FB & MH P.E.O., Webster Groves Chapter #64, O.E.S., Illinois Retired Teachers Association and Methodist Medical Center, volunteer corps Board of Directors, past President. She is survived by her children Dr. John W. Van Cleve and wife Audrey of Minneapolis, MN, Dr. Julia A. Paulson and husband Dr. Peter of Mt. Zion, IL, Dr. Mark D. Van Cleve of Long Beach, CA; grandchildren Courtney, Betsy, Stewart, Michael, Tony, and Debbie; 4 great grandsons; brothers Joseph Dannenmaier of OK and William Dannenmaier of TN.She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Walter Dannenmaier, and husband John.
