Esther Burns-Carson

Esther Burns Carson passed away at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 5, 2011, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, IL. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association. Esther was born May 25, 1919 in Chestnut, IL, the daughter of Merle and Grace (Waddell) Miller. She married Otha Burns on August 5, 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1986. In 1991, she married William Carson and he preceded her in death in 2007. Esther was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. After graduating from Latham High School she was employed by the Warrensburg Post Office, Caterpillar Military Engine Co. and the Warrensburg School District. She enjoyed dancing, sewing, traveling, and reading. She leaves behind a son Gerald Burns and his wife Susie of Arkansas; grandson Michael of St. Louis; sister and brother-in-law Harriet and Charles McGuire of Decatur; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; her potluck friends, Tuesday night dinner group, and her special friends at Keystone Gardens. She was preceded in death by her parents, and special granddaughter Melissa. "
