Ester Smith

Ester R. Smith, 92, of Cerro Gordo, IL, died 4:55 p.m., Monday, September 16, 2013, at Keystone Meadows, Decatur, IL. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Cerro Gordo Cemetery, Cerro Gordo, IL. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Cerro Gordo, IL will be handling the arrangements. Ester was born March 2, 1921, in Marissa, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Alvina (Hacker) Barker. She married Kenneth George Smith on April 17, 1945 in Marissa, IL. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2004. Ester was a member of Elmhurst Methodist Church in Elmhurst, IL. She was a grade school secretary for over 20 years. Ester loved flowers and gardening. She is survived by her daughter Kay A. Ulland of Cerro Gordo, IL; grandchildren Staci (Phil) Lang of Ashmore, IL, Marta (Jerry Phillips) Adams of Meridosia, IL, Jaime Adams of Cerro Gordo, IL, Zack (Lauren) Ulland of St. Louis, MO area; great grandchildren Ryan Adams of Charleston, IL, Colt Lee Phillips of Meridosia, IL, Jennifer Lang of Ashmore, IL, Thaddeus Lang of Ashmore, IL, Caleb Nihiser, Connor Nihiser, and Kirsten Nihiser, all of Cerro Gordo, IL; sister-in-law Lois Eastman of Texas; brother-in-law Harold Green of Florida; niece Christy Smith of California; nephew Kim Smith of Boston, MA; 2 great nephews and 1 great niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, three brothers. "
