Durward Dane Queen died October 26, 2005 at the Legacy House Hospice in Ocala, FL. He was born in Akron, OH on July 26, 1914 the son of Ivry and Lillian (Minear) Queen. He attended Kent State University. He moved with his father to Decatur, IL and worked at Jenkins Music Company. When arriving back in the Akron area he worked for Goodrich Rubber Co. and Ohio Ryan Homes. When they purchased the greenhouses he pursued his love of flowers and plants. They spent many vacations traveling, camping, fishing and square dancing where many lasting friendships were enjoyed. Erma is survived by nieces, Linda Hurd, Alexandria, VA; Sandi Stafford, Albany, GA; and Judy (Merle) Sims, Decatur. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers and special nephews, Zack Hurd and Jim Meador. Durward is survived by a nephew, Jim (Sandi) Queen of Akron, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Othey. Memorial graveside services will be held for Erma and Durward at 11:15 A.M. Friday, April 30, 2010 at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 AM, prior to the graveside service at Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home. Memorials to: Lincoln Manor or Macon County Honor Guard.The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the loving care and compassion provided to "Aunt Kitty" by the entire Lincoln Manor staff, past & present.
